THE DOGON COUNTRY |
Dogon Country is the region
between Mopti and the Burkina Fasso border. The dogon
populate the Bandiagara, a long sandstone escarpment,
its sides, and the plain below which the escarpment dominates.
The masked dances of the Dogon are probably the most well-known
fact about these people whose staple diet is millet. Their
rituals, traditions, and methods of healing stretch back
centuries, and they are gifted artists and crafts
people.
Possibility of trekking, visiting very old Dogon villages
such as Banini, Ireli and Tireli. Ireli is the most known
with it's typical architecture down escarpements. |
