On the way to Kidal you cross
the Tilemsi valley and some villages. The first of them
is Tinawker(market every wednesday), near Tinawker, there
is the site of Karkarichinkad, the first ows and sheeps
in Mali have been domesticated there ( 4000 BC.). Kidal
is the main town of Tuareg in Mali, it is surounded by
big rocks, called there, mountains. You can visit cattle
market, handcraft and ancient fort.
In Tamaradant there are a lot of rock carvings an an ancient
stone castle. Tin essako is a little village at the border
between Tamesna plateau,with yellow sand dunes and Adrar
black rocks. Essouk, or Essuk, or Tadamakat (its ancient
name) was one of the first cities established in Tuareg
country. It is now in ruins, but was founded in the 10th
century and may be regarded as the birthplace of the Mali
and Niger Tuareg civilisation. The ruins along what were
the borders of the town, as well as the cemetery and its
headstones may still be seen. Pottery containing antique
gold jewellery has recently been unearthed. On the way
there are Wadis and rocks. You will see many Tuareg camps
and their cattle. |
